Luwam Yohanes is a first-generation Eritrean-American, global public health innovator and disability advocate working towards amplifying and elevating forward the voices of those unheard. Luwam enjoys utilizing creative tools to bridge connections across demographics, developing accessible and engaging materials that serve as catalysts to promote healthier and thriving communities. Currently, Luwam serves as the Program Associate with the Aspen Global Innovators Group. In this role, she actively contributes to building a community of changemakers dedicated to prioritizing health, community, and equity in global health issues and improving overall health and well-being. Prior to joining Aspen, Luwam worked as a Program Specialist at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), providing programmatic support to CDC-funded programs that focused on advancing the lives of people with developmental and other disabilities. Luwam is interested in creating a space and exploring the intersection of global health and disability studies. Luwam earned her MPH with a concentration in Maternal, Family, and Child Health and a BA in Global Studies with a concentration in Global Health and Environment from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
